It uses aqfer aUT tagging to create a first-party cookie. aUT is backed by the Akamai CDN.
By using CloudFlare settings, we can invoke aUT via Akamai without ever leaving the CloudFlare hosted domain. Thus the first-party cookie will have the maximum lifespan under the various ITP and privacy managment features of different browsers.
